Giorgio Cassinari

Giorgio Cassinari is a Managing Legal Consultant at Spark Legal and Policy Consulting, working in the Justice and Home Affairs area, where he acts as Area Lead for Home. He joined Spark in 2021.

Giorgio has been involved in and managed various studies for DG JUST, DG HOME, FRA, DG COMP, DG GROW and DG ENER. He is currently working on several studies on internal security matters and criminal law, including “Study supporting the evaluation of Regulation (EU) 2021/784 addressing the dissemination of terrorist content online”, “Study to support the evaluation of the application of Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013 concerning investigations conducted by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF)”, and “Exploratory study on the possible lisbonisation of ex-third pillar acquis in the area of mutual recognition in criminal matters”. Previously, he also worked on a study on “Analysing online hatred in selected EU Member States”.

Giorgio obtained his Master’s degree in Law from the University of Trento in 2019 with a thesis on comparative corporate criminal liability. During his studies, Giorgio spent one semester at KU Leuven, where he mainly focused on European and International Law and Criminology.

Before starting at Spark, Giorgio worked at an international law firm in Milan, Italy, where he focused on regulatory investigations and financial crime. Giorgio also completed a traineeship with the European Parliament, where he assisted the work of the Secretariat of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, following files in the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters, EU internal security and police cooperation. Furthermore, Giorgio has passed the Italian Bar exam. His mother tongue is Italian, and he speaks English and French.
