We are happy to announce that we have been awarded a new contract by the European Commission (DG EMPL) to ‘Support the identification of professions for the extension of automatic recognition through common training frameworks under Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications’.
This study aims to identify the professions that could potentially be fit for the development of common training frameworks (CTF) under Article 49a of the Directive for specific regulated professions and define the concrete components of such potential frameworks.
By contributing to the cross-border recognition of qualifications, the study helps to enhance labour mobility across the EU and address shortages in key sectors such as healthcare, construction, and transport. As outlined in the Draghi report and the political guidelines of the 2024-2029 European Commission, addressing labour shortages is crucial for European competitiveness, and we are delighted to contribute to this mission.
The Study will first select the professions that are best placed for the introduction of a CTF, based on criteria stemming from the Directive. Then, the Study will then conduct a comprehensive mapping, assessing various element of the regulation, education, and training of these selected professions. This will serve to determine the level of feasibility of introducing a CTF for each profession, and to identify the elements these CTFs would potentially include.
We look forward to collaborating with our partner 3s on this project and develop high-quality research to inform policy making.
