Spark is pleased to announce the publication of the results of our Study ‘Mapping and assessment of developments of one of the sectoral professions under Directive 2005/36/EC – Midwife’ for DG GROW.
This Study marks the conclusion of a series of studies Spark conducted for the European Commission on professions regulated under Directive 2005/36/EC.
It provides a comprehensive review of national requirements for midwifery education and training across all EU Member States, EEA countries, and Switzerland. It examines both theoretical and practical training components, the subjects included in national curricula, and the expected knowledge and skills students must acquire.
Particular attention is given to how these requirements have evolved in response to scientific and technical advancements. The report also assesses whether the EU should update the minimum subjects, knowledge, and skills under Directive 2005/36/EC and offers suggestions for possible updates.
