Maria Tavares is a trainee at Spark Legal and Policy Consulting, having joined the company in 2024.
Maria obtained her LLM in International Laws at Maastricht University in 2023, having spent a year on exchange at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and writing her thesis on the legal definition of Deepfakes in the EU Artificial Intelligence Act.
Before joining Spark, Maria interned at a Lisbon law firm, where she worked with different legal departments such as the labour law and the criminal law department. Her mother tongue is Portuguese and she speaks English and Spanish fluently.
