Theo Karnbauer is a Trainee Legal Consultant in the Energy, Mobility and Environment Area, who joined Spark Legal and Policy team in 2026.
Theo obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from Sciences Po Rennes, followed by a Master's in international environmental law. During his Bachelor, he spent one year in Argentina as an exchange student in the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. Afterwards, he completed an LLM in Law of the Sea at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø. His Master’s thesis analyszed to what extent maritime law instruments can address the practice of ‘going dark’ (cutting radar tracking) by fishing fleets.
Before joining Spark, Theo worked as an intern in the Sustainable Development team at Normandy Region, focusing on a benchmark on climate change policies for high schools’ students in Europe. As an international volunteer, he also worked at the Alliance Francaise of Colombo on the creation and logistics of environmental events for students in Sri Lanka.
Theo is a native French speaker, fluent in English with intermediate knowledge of Spanish.
